This quick guide will take you through everything you need to know to have a great video interview experience with New Relic.

Tips for a Successful Interview

Reduce any stress by checking on these early so you are ready and prepared for your time to shine.

  • Ensure your computer system is up to date with all the necessary video requirements
  • Check that your camera, microphone and speakers are operating properly
  • Find a well-lit place where your face is clearly visible
  • Make sure your Internet connection is stable
  • Test your camera and video settings to make sure you are comfortable with the angle and positioning of your picture on the screen.
  • Minimize possible noise distractions (ie. phone, apps, pets, people, etc.)
  • Close all unnecessary web browser tabs and applications
  • Have paper and pen available to write down questions or notes
  • The most important advice we can share is — Just be yourself! Bring your positive energy and show the team you’re passionate about this opportunity to join New Relic.

Selecting a Location

A proper environment is essential to you feeling confident and comfortable, and so the interviewers can be sure to see and hear you clearly.

  • Find a quiet, private, well-lit place, free from possible interruptions. Your home office, private meeting room or other dedicated space is ideal.
  • Avoid coffee shops or other public locations where it can be difficult to control the noise and distractions.

Ultimately, the goal is to choose a location where you can have a focused conversation so we can get to know each other.

Video Interview Technology

When your interview details are confirmed and scheduled, you will receive a calendar invite and interview confirmation email from a New Relic Talent Acquisition Coordinator. It will include a link to download BlueJeans — the cloud-based video conferencing software for New Relic. Creating an account and signing in is a simple 2-minute process. The coordinator will provide a Blue Jeans guide in your confirmation email that will walk you through setup on your preferred device.

Technology Tips and FAQ:

Practice directing your gaze at the camera while you’re answering a question. When you do this, your eyes are more likely to align with the interviewer’s eyes on the other end. When you’re listening, you can look back at the screen or to your notes.

If preferred, the Bluejeans Mobile App should be downloaded & installed ahead of time. bluejeans.com/downloads

Are the videos being recorded? At no time will videos be recorded.

What if I have to share or present content?

  • BlueJeans offers a Sharing Content guide for a variety of situations and platforms.
  • You are also welcome to send your content ahead of time to your Talent Acquisition Coordinator who will share with the hiring manager or interview team in the event of any technical challenges or they will be running the presentation for you.

Can I test my BlueJeans setup with someone first, before my interview takes place?

YES! Please contact your Talent Acquisition Coordinator to set up time before your interview to cover any questions you may have, test out BlueJeans and to ensure your interview is set up for success.
